All of the pieces are caricatures of actual African Tribal masks. The meaning of each mask specifically relates to the postiion it holds on the chess board. It represents a theme of honoring your family, past, present, and future.
The King stands about 6" tall...pawns about 3"tall. All of the pieces are meticulously hand-carved with old fashioned bench chisels from solid hardwoods like Walnut, Maple, and Poplar. The Chessboard measures 25" square and is made from solid Walnut and Red Oak.
